Oh, I'm the exact same way! I just always go back and re-write. I will sketch out my ideas and write the story as a first draft, and then put it down for a week or so and go back to it. it's then that I identify where I need more explanation and flesh things out a bit. This story has gone through three editing phases and stands to go through one or two more before it's complete.
