I tried. I really did. I looked up numerous pictures of Falco online for reference and details. But I just couldn't deal with it. Falco's original design is ass ugly. Matter of fact, none of the original characters are remotely attractive to draw, which is probably why most people stylize the hell out of Fox when they draw him.
So I ditched the Falco pictures and looked up real falcon pictures instead. Then I used what I saw to make my own design. Their eyes are solid black and spherical (NOT UGLY ASS ALMONDS), their heads flat and wide, and their beaks are actually brown, not yellow. But hey! At least I kept his original colors.
P.S. He's a boxerbriefs man.

I don't think the original intent of the star fox characters (Did you ever see the commercial/press release materials for the original game? That was some terrifying muppet stuff) was to make them... attractive. They were animals. That flew spaceships. It was fun.

But this is FA! The FURRY FANDOM. If it's not attractive, it WILL BE, GOD DAMN IT!!
I suppose you're right, but nine out of ten anthropomorphic cartoon characters are more successful mascots if they aren't ass ugly. Look at the entire lineup of Disney Afternoon or Warner Brothers characters.

Peppy Hare's 2nd design was cute. The one from the StarFox 64 comic which appeared in NintendoPower years and years ago. Peppy was brown/white, still young and active. Fara Phoenix was another nice one from that comic. I've seen maybe 2 stories other than that comic which even mention her. She was the daughter of the man who originally designed the Arwings. Slippy's father only built them.
