That was strange in how all of the changes were spread, but it seemed like the infection was spread in more places than just meat. This entire scenario reminds me of that new show called "Fangbone" with a magical goat virus episode where despite their best efforts everyone turned into a mindless goat (that attack other humans to infect them for some reason). So the main character decide to turn into a goat too to be with his transformed family and to screw over the bad guy that did this by hiding the thing he wanted from him to exchange for the cure. This forced the bad guy to change everyone back to normal because he could not find the thing.
