Doctor Trousers bent over, clutching his knees and panting hard. He had just sprinted for longer than he'd ever ran in his life, for his life. It was beginning to dawn on him that running away from a gigantic monster on various rooftops all shorter than he was wasn't the smartest of ideas.
He nearly fell to his feet when a gigantic hand clasped the top of the building, mere feet away from the lizard. He looked up, and then up to find the demon looming over him, a placid grin on his face. In his other hand he held a metal cage, slightly smaller than Doctor Trousers was tall and unclasped from its solid-gold chain.
"It would appear that you've got nowhere else to run." The demon's voice shook the very building from underneath Doctor Trousers's feet it was so low, yet still somehow the doctor could understand every word with terrifying clarity. "Since we've got a bit of time left, I'll do you a favor," he said.
The doctor trembled before the thing, taking a few seconds to process that he was expected to reply. "O-oh," he stammered, "wh-wha--"
"I'm going to sit here and explain what I'm going to do to you, and then I'm going to do it," the demon purred. "If any part of this cage touches your flesh, I will have won the game, and you will become my personal slave for eternity. And if you manage to keep it from touching you for the next..." he looked up at a nearby clock tower, displaying the time 10:24, "...hour and thirty-six minutes, then you win, and you may ask of me a wish for anything you want."
Doctor Trousers sheepishly looked around for an escape. The only building close to the one he was on was the one he had gotten there from, jumping down from a higher rooftop to this one. With nowhere to jump back up, and with the roof access door clearly locked, there was no means of escape.
"Now, if this little narrative of ours considers you to be the protagonist, then certainly something will come and save you at the last moment. That's why I'm wasting all of this time explaining things to you. After all, it's storytelling 101 that when the villain takes the time to reveal his evil plans to the hero, they will most certainly be foiled in the end, no?" The demon's smile grew wider. "But if, by chance, you're not considered the main character, or this turns out to be a very different kind of story..."
The demon twirled the cage around in his fingers like it was a little toy. Doctor Trousers moved to take a step back, but found his feet pinned underneath one of the monster's fingers.
"Hold still."
The demon brought the cage toward the comparatively tiny lizard. Doctor Trousers closed his eyes and reflexively held out his hands. He felt a cold metal gently press against them, and through his closed eyes he could see a sudden flash of purple light...
Continuation of this.
I've always loved shots of macros looming over someone standing on a building, so here's my contribution to that very specific sub-genre! Strangely enough, this picture took much less time to render than the last one. It seems that Renderman likes open spaces much more than enclosed ones, probably because it doesn't have to calculate so many light bounces or something along those lines.
