I just wanted to show some Soolosseans, or as I like to call them "douchey space dolphin elves".
Eris is the first one I created, and one of the main characters of a comic I've been working on for a little while. He was born a Seer, and ended up stoling a powerful key from godlike beings, the Balance Keepers, that gave him the power to travel through time and space. He's some kind of trickster demi-god. I actually roleplay as a younger version of him because I'm not really interested in playing overpowered characters.
Eokk has a twin with the exact same name. They're member of the Soolossean aristocracy, and, as such, are terrible persons.
Juhdd is one of the prostitutes of the Space Brothel, a former Soolossean stowaway. He's also Adnys' favourite, with all the downsides involved.
Adnys is a Soolossean fugitive, who ended up joining a crew of space pirates for a few years. He left with enough money to create the infamous Space Brothel, which he's been managing using very dubious methods. He's ruthless and has no ethics.
Wyrd was also a fugitive along with Adnys. He's now his second in command, but despite his intimidating looks he's way more lenient than his partner.
SOCIETY:
Soolosseans are a race of amphibian creatures from a planet that's composed of 90% water.
Their society is a heavily caste-based aristocracy with eugenistic tendencies. Imagine what could be an ant society with aristocracy, and that should be pretty much it: if you're born strong, you'll be a guard or a worker, and you won't be educated about anything else because nobody want you to start questionning your role and the society as a whole. They raise breeders that they deem perfect enough to pass their genes, and reproduction for non-breeders is pretty much seen as a crime there.
The upper class members possess some form of telekynesis, which is how they managed to become the leaders in the first place, when the Soolossean civilization was still very young.
Male and female have no meaning for them, as they all can bear eggs and fertilize other Soolosseans depending on which organs they decide to use (they're pretty much male-herms). They don't categorize people by sex, but by their role in society (Highborn, Seer, Guard, Worker, Hunter, Educator, Breeder, Artisan, etc...) ; rather than saying "mister" or "madam", they tend to call people by their function.
By typical space traveler standards, Soolosseans are seen as primitive, and isolationists. They don't have really advanced technology, but are making progresses regarding medical research lately.
Soolosseans usually stay on their homeplanet, since they mostly live underwater and don’t have any spaceship nor random space-travel related devices, but there’s a few exceptions, as foreign spaceships sometimes land there to make some trades. Some Soolosseans come aboard as stowaways, and they mostly never come back, as they tend to enjoy other civilizations way more than their own.
APPEARANCE:
Soolosseans have a sleek, rubbery skin, akin to dolphins. They mostly live underwater, but as amphibians they're usually fine outside, having holes on their body that allow them to absorb humidity in the air. Dry places such as desert and arid lands, however, can be deadly for them after a short while.
They tend to have between two and five mouths, with either short pointy teeth or large fangs. They don't have eyes, but evolution gave them different means of perception, like echolocation, some kind of thermal receptors, and a very keen sense of smell. While they're far from being blind thanks to that sense, they can't differentiate colors, read common books (Braille books are fine), nor see anything on a screen. The -very rare- Soolosseans working on other races' spaceships usually get eye implants.
They're very flexible, even the bulkier ones. Most of them have fins, whose location can vary.
Their skin color can vary, though most of them are either blue, green or grey-ish.
