And you think your day is bad....
I just witnessed this Jeep Liberty roll twice in front of me heading westbound when I was heading east. Seems some asshole In a minivan wasn't paying attention when merging and smacked the right rear tire causing the Jeep to flip after getting the wheel knocked off. I immediately pulled over where I snapped this shot and ran over to offer assistance. A military convoy was just behind me and the soldiers piled out of their Humvees and instantly assisted the jeep passengers out and to safety.
The minivan was maybe 35 feet to the left of this scene, the whole left front tire assembly is crushed in. The female teenage driver was unharmed but very upset.
Seems she was "glancing at her phone and saw a pokemon " She babbled out. Needless to say, the three people assisting her heard this. And yes, will tell Officer Friendly this little blurb.
That's right, she was chasing Pokémon WHILE DRIVING! !!
FUCK ON A STICK!!!! Christ, people, when are they going to learn to not game and drive at the same Fucking time?
Once I saw the troops and a ton of witnesses and the cops arrive, I headed back to my car and snapped this.

The girl made a conscious decision to put other lives in danger when she picked up her phone, Pokemon or not.
Its just a bit of a coincidence. I don't think phone use should be allowed if you are a driver on the freeway anyways.

in germany using a cel phone of any kind while driving is prohibited, unless you have a free-speech add-on installed, allowing you to talk without having to hold the phone. alas, we don't have enough police personnel to actually check on it, and accidents still happen because facespace-tweets & such.
It still would have happened, just replace "I glanced at my phone because I saw a Pokemon" with "I glanced at my phone because I got a text from by bff" or "I gotta call" etc. It someone with a brain science has proven is under-developed trying to multitask while performing a skill they aren't really that skilled at yet.
Since the release, there's been a rash of reports of trespassing, dangerous driving and jaywalking because "I saw a pokemon and was trying to catch it".
And this was caused by the girl using her phone while driving, not the game itself. But the game is still part of the trouble.

The only solution is for cops to crack down on cell phone use while driving. If the penalties are more severe, such as losing your license on the first offense, many will put the phones down while driving. That's what needs to happen. Zero tolerance cell phone use while driving laws.
As also evidenced by all the fucking drunk drivers here in America WHO STILL HAVE THEIR GOD-DANG LICENSES!! I've seen people on the news, on cop shows, and on court shows, who have MULTIPLE DUIs on their record, and yet the twat baskets still have their licenses. As long as they're willing to pay for the tickets they get, they still retain their license for some inexplicable reason. And even if they do get their license revoked, some of them will just go on driving anyway. Cause an accident? Damage someone else's car? Good luck getting them to pay for shit. Most people would be too shaken up by the accident to remember to get any information right away, so if the perpetrator speeds off and disappears your chances of avoiding having to pay for it yourself are slim.
It's happened to my sister a couple of times, now. The other person took off before my sister could even get out of the car to do anything, and she was at a red light (the other car sped through it before it changed), so she couldn't get their tag number.
Pokémon GO is just the latest in a long line of cell phone based distractions, it's really the assholes using the phones that's the problem. Pokémon GO is partially responsible, due to how hugely popular it is and the fact that it encourages you to travel around to capture the little critters, but the knuckle-draggers behind the wheel are the ones that bear the brunt of the responsibility. ~sighs~ I can only hope this fad passes quickly.
Hopefully the people in the Jeep came out without any permanent injuries.

Like I said, it's the assholes using the phones that bear the brunt of the responsibility. But Pokémon Go still bears a little bit, because of it's popularity and encouragement of people to travel all over to catch various Pokémon. There have even been reports of trespassing and such because of it. Would it be that big of a deal if it wasn't as popular as it is? No. But because of it's huge popularity, more people are taking risks they might not take ordinarily. Someone might ignore the phone if it rings, or a text when it comes in, but because they're addicted to this game they think they can just look down for a second and it'll be fine.
Am I saying the game is responsible for people being stupid? Of course not, people will be stupid no matter what, that's why there are laws about texting and driving, but Pokémon Go is still a very enticing distraction for these people.
Stupid people will continue to be stupid no matter what, whether it's texting, talking, eating, putting on makeup, or playing a game. But you don't see this happening with other games. Now, I'm not blaming the game itself really, it's just a game after all and can't force people to be stupid, they do that all on their own. I'm just saying that it's a very enticing distraction, giving stupid people even more of a reason to be stupid.

Well, let me put it this way; I play Pokemon Go. I enjoy it very much and it is a fun game. I do NOT use it while driving and I pay attention to where I'm going and what I'm doing at all times. I play the game the way it is supposed to be played. I honestly still maintain that the game is responsible for absolutely nothing. Its popularity is no excuse. People's addiction is no excuse. It is ALL the fault of the users, NOT Pokemon Go. To blame Pokemon Go would be the same as blaming alcohol for drunk drivers. It's not the fault of alcohol that some idiot decided to get in their car after drinking a heavy amount of alcohol.
My apologies, I probably worded it a bit wrong. I'm not saying the game itself is responsible, I'm just blaming its popularity really. Like you said, if used correctly it's perfectly fine. I'm just saying that it's giving some people more of a reason to be distracted than they otherwise would've had, that doesn't change the fact that they're still idiots however. People like you use it responsibly, just like if you drank I'm sure you wouldn't get behind the wheel of a car after drinking. But there are people out there that, while ordinarily able to resist temptations like texting/talking on their phone while driving, now have even more of a reason to be distracted.
But its popularity is pretty much just the 'latest thing' right now. Meaning after it dies down, idiots will still find other ways to be idiots; they'll just do so with something else.
Just like when texting was the newest thing, the rate of accidents went up. That doesn't mean the texting software itself was the problem, it was just the popularity of it. Unfortunately accidents still happen because of it, but that's just stupid people being stupid people.

Not even in the slightest. It is her responsibility and the responsibility of phone users to NOT use a phone in ANY capacity while driving. Anybody thinking the game is responsible is part of the problem. The game is NOT to be played, nor are cell phones to be used while driving. So no, it is not to blame one bit. The game is meant to be played responsibly and not while driving. If you text while driving the person you're texting is not to blame for your stupidity. In other words, she's a dumb cunt and it is entirely her fault for being such and not the game.
So you're assuming everyone else using phones and/or playing any game app on their phones are going to be responsible?
Given the amount of news reports about trespass, B&E and vehicle accidents involving people playing Pokemon Go, the game has to be a contributing factor to those acts so yes, to some degree the game is to blame. But yes, she was a dumb ass for having her phone on and running an app likely to increase her level of distraction while driving.
Yes, people who use their phones while driving are total morons (Britain considers it to be on par with drunk driving and punishes to a similar degree which includes loss of license). And yes, the game is MEANT to be played responsibly.
But people are going to use their cars to get around a wider area so they can use their phones to catch a larger amount of pokemon. This isn't about responsible drivers or sensible pokemon fans or savvy phone users.
This is about people swept up in the craze to catch virtual monsters on their phones not paying attention to their surroundings in case they miss the chance to catch one of those virtual monsters, regardless if they are in a motor vehicle or not.

I refuse to let retards ruin it for everyone else. I do however think that Darwinism should be allowed to do it's work. If it weren't for goverments getting into everybody elses business to make sure that common sense shit has to have big flashing signs then I'm pretty sure a lot of stupid people would have been killed off by something like windex early on in life when they could do less harm.
The sad thing is, the woman that caused it came away mostly unscathed, the same may not be able to be said for the people in the Jeep.
It seems to me the average IQ of the US seems to be on the decline... This is one of the many reasons why. Someone please make sure this woman doesn't have any kids!

Ok seriously, WHY ARE PEOPLE BLAMING THE GAME?!??? The game doesn't force you to play, it doesn't use some kind control device, this accident was caused by only one thing: an idiot too stupid to use common sense and IGNORE HER PHONE WHILE DRIVING.
I'm sorry but the amount of people blaming Pokemon GO! for the bad things that have happened to those playing it is too damn high! It's like blaming cigarettes for giving you cancer rather than blaming yourself for smoking them. You know it's bad to do it, but do it anyway.

I think this made squirrel on a jiggly Puff. You're telling me the person driving the minivan was playing Pokémon go? orthe person driving the Jeep? I've been hearing a lot of stories about people playing that Pokémon go while driving and it just makes me shake my head. Next were done here about somebody with one of those driver assist vehicles having an accident while playing Pokémon go on their cell phone because they didn't grasp driving assist is basically the same as cruise control you can't go screwing around reading a newspaper having a nap watching a movie, etc. while driving.
"I was glancing at my phone and saw a Pokémon."I still remember from my Security Guard Law and Ethics training (35 years ago) that this is an instance of Res Gestae (Latin for things done). It's a form of spontaneous declaration and it's admissible in most courts. Dumb cunt.
People just don't get it that being in control of a multi-tonne kinetic missile means YOU PAY ATTENTION TO WHERE YOUR GUIDING THAT MISSILE AND NOTHING ELSE.
Sorry about yelling but this kinda crap really makes me wish there was a way to explain it to people. Maybe I should circulate some crayon drawings for morons like the one that caused this accident. Actually, no, this isn't an accident. This is an act of willful stupidity causing harm to others.

there is a video of Peanutbutter Gamer who talked about the EXACT SAME THING just take a look at this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVOqtRxTKRs
I can't help but notice that that Jeep must have been hit pretty hard to make the wheel break off. no wonder they rolled over like that... that was a full-force impact.
kudos for running and offering assistance right away.
here in germany people gawking and recording and facebooking an accident instead of helping, even actively hindering official helpers, becomes a growing problem. I want to slap them with a clue-by-four... and then their damn smartphones.
