Looks like some kind of disturbing alt universe. I get the feeling a lot of these AU's are pretty dark, usually. Especially if the source wasn't as...dark.

Yuss, it's pretty dark but with just the right amount of fluff and hope sprinkled on top. I highly recommend reading a fic called Overgrowth about this specific AU. I've heard it's changed the way a lot of people view life. It's a great experience and will definitely bring you tears.
I'm personally really masochistic when it comes to fictional stories so the more dark and gruesome and tear-jerking, the better. xD
