I had an idea for this goofy micropunk setting. ID cards and badges these days have little microchips in them that'll store info. I decided to take that to a dumb extreme of 70s-80s tech by having agents/whoever have to carry around a printed cassette as ID, slot it into a kiosk to prove validity, that is if they don't take the little crest and stuff as legit at face value. It'd store encrypted validation data to access the person's records on a giant database. or something..
