There are three subgroups of Blanket dragon (not including Technoformed).
Each subgroup had slight differences in appearance, ech also resides in different environments which aids the magic they specialize in.

Evergreen subgroup: Larger, stocky frames, thick fur, short wings and tails, small ears.

Tropical subgroup: Slight build, shorter fur, larger wing span, longer tails and bigger ears.

Marine subgroup: Stream lined bodies, extremely short water proof fur, much larger, wider wings, pointed ears and webbed toes.

Each of the subgroups focus on a different types of magic
Evergreen: Earth and Water.
Tropical: Air and Fire.
Marine: Water and Air.

Each type of magic has a Light and Dark version of it, though some Blankets do just focus on Light of Darkness magic.
Also note that Dark magic does not always mean evil, its more of controlling the darkness and night.

One thing some strong magic users sometimes have is a form of non permanent marking (sometimes just called make up) make up by their magic. These markings lay on top of the markings on the face, the can be a combination of any of the markings shown.
