Just picked it up today!
It's a Smith & Wesson M&P 15 Assault Rifle!
The government is doing it's best to outlaw these guns, so I figures that I had better get one while I could, and I advise anyone else in California, or anywhere in the USA to so the same!
The cool thing about this gun is how easily modified it is! I could add all kinds of attachments and features, and even change the caliber if I wanted! (granted, if I could afford it)
And in addition to this gun, I finally filled out an enrollment form to join the National Rifle Association! i just got to drop it at the post office tomorrow on my way to work.
Apparently, the governor of California recently signed an incredible unconstitutional bill to outlaw any firearm with a detachable clip, which will go into effect at the beginning of next year, unless it is shot down before it can officially pass (no pun intended).
That means ANY gun that has a clip will be gone from California, leaving only revolvers, basic shotguns, and rifles that are single shot, or have a permanently mounted magazine.
This is ridiculous! As if it was not bad enough that we are only allowed to have these tiny clips that hold a measly 10 shots, where I should have a clip that could hold 30 or 50 shots, or even a drum that could hold over 100!
This means that in addition to this gun, I'm gonna have to go out and get myself some more spare clips for this gun, and my pistol, and I'm gonna have to try to get my hunting rifle and 45 pistol before next year if I want them, and spare clips for them as well!
The government is doing all it can to disarm all of the law-abiding citizens, and make it easier for criminals to take advantage of us, or for the government itself to oppress us, so we need to start fighting back by doing anything we can to cast down these unconstitutional laws they keep trying to pass, help funding organizations that fight for our rights, such as the NRA, and by arming ourselves for the seemingly inevitable revolution that is fast approaching.
I am hoping that we can avoid a revolutionary war in the USA, but I must say, things are looking rather grim.
That being said, join the NRA! It only costs $25 per year, and they are possible the largest organization that fights the hardest for our constitutional rights!
And go buy a gun! If anything, they are fun to shoot at the range! ;3
I'm gonna try to go play with this gun down at my local shooting range this Sunday, if I don't get pulled in to work that day. ^^

Unfortunately there are no endorsements we can get here. The only exception to the 10 round limit is if you are a law enforcement officer, which I think get 12 round clips, or you are in the military.
And I actually had to get a license in order to just get my gun, which is the main reason I got my hunting license

You need a license here too once you have that you can buy A category guns. Anything else needs a license endorsement. B Target Pistols, C Collectors [Full auto, rocket launchers ect.], E Military Style Semi-Auto, D & F are for gun dealers and their employees.
The system exist to make it hard for criminals and people with mental health issues to get guns.

I'll admit, getting properly trained, and having different levels of licenses for firearms is a good idea.
But in addition to the license I had to get, I have to submit for a full background check with every single purchase of a firearm, to which there is a 10 day waiting period after the purchase that I must wait to go pick up my gun. That is pretty much the best method of preventing gun sales to convicts or those who have been deemed mentally unstable.

Honestly, the 'right to bear arms' thing is for militia and when the people think the government is being absurd, and at the time
1) You had to reload after every shot which took a minute or two
2) Wild Animals were a known threat and criminal activity was significantly worst
3) Again, they were black powder, flint lock weapons
I'm okay with people having guns, I enjoy them myself, but honestly, I agree with limits of what should/shouldn't be okay to own. A detachable clip can become a serious issue if some one who's unstable gets it (which happens alot since we don't properly screen for psychological issues before letting people get guns other than pistols, or even have them take gun safety courses to get any fire arm). Actually, in that regard I'm in support of a special chip that has been put into use in a few police departments across the nation that's part of a pistol, tracks every time the weapon is drawn, what angle it's held at, the exact gps coordinates it's at, the number of times it's fired, everything.
In short, I understand every one wants their guns, but seriously, there should be a limit of what is/isn't okay, and when you get into carrying military grade things, you should either be in the service, part of a local militia (and have gotten training for that, but in all honesty militia aren't something we need, the USA will never be invaded on land) or if you have extensive psychological screening in order to get a Military Class Firearms Licence (which here in Texas runs about 50k a year)

I'm sorry, but that whole thing about the right to bear arms only applying to the militia, is complete bullshit.
You clearly don't understand the entire point behind the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, or the meaning of the ideals of freedom this country was based and built upon.
The founding fathers did NOT instate the right to bear arms because of crooks nor animals nor native americans, their main focus was to prevent the government from becoming too powerful, because they had just broken away from an oppressive government who was trying to disarm its citizens.
Sure, they may have only had muskets back then, but here's the ting, gun related crimes were insanely low compared to the gun controlled areas in the US today, and the citizens had the same firearms as the military, so it was an even playing field, and the government would be hard pressed to make any attempt to take over.
As for unstable people having guns, that is also bullshit, because honestly, out of all the gun related crimes, the amount of them that were from mentally ill people who legally obtained a firearm is nearly nonexistent. Also, if more law abiding citizens were carrying firearms, like it should be, those who attempt to commit gun related crimes would be quickly dealt with, preventing many casualties.
Also, would-be crooks would be less likely to try to commit crimes if they knew that everyone around them were armed, bringing crime rates down significantly low.
I am fully for the allowance of any law abiding legal citizen of this country to purchase, own, and carry firearms, and to have little to no limitations on what they can own. And I see those who believe or wish to take those rights away as enemies of American freedom, the American dream, and of the ideals this country was built upon and put in place by our founding fathers who sweat blood to provide us with these rights.
And those who are trying to change the wording of the right to bear arms should be charged with treason, and face the gallows.
Yes, there should be regulations on HOW we keep our guns, and to be responsible for assuring that they don't fall into the wrong hands, (for example, I own a rifle safe, and have locking cases for transporting my guns to and from the firing range, as well as the proper holsters and other equipment), but our right to bear arms should NEVER be infringed!

I never said mentally ill folks, I said unstable folks, a large number of crimes are 'crimes of passion' where it was readily available to shoot some one, so they did. This mentality of 'oh well it's our right to have any kind of gun' is complete and utter poppycock. Other countries have strick gun regulations and they do just fine, and are just as good, if not better, than America when it comes to civil liberties. Canada for instance has strict gun laws, requiring any one wishing to purchase any type of fire arm or ammunition for firearms to be liscenced in order to do so, and they are doing rather well.
Having guns is okay, a 5 round hunting rifle, or a tube feed 12 or 20 round .223 long rifle, no complaints, but why is it considered 'mah rights as a 'merican' to demand guns that are capable, in a single clip of killing more than a dozen people, easily, reliably, and in most cases, faster than others could react to it.
Also that 'oh if every one has guns then people won't do bad things' is stupid. Mexico pulls that one to an extent, and the crime rate there is much worse because people start to go 'well I've got a gun, I can take the law upon myself'.
So how about ya pull the NRA propaganda and spin out of your ears and think with logic. The job of the government is to maintain order and try and balance civil liberties or the individual, with the needs of the many. And as it stands the personal liberty of people owning dozens of guns, does not out weigh the weight of damage those guns have caused in the past decade.

Okay, you are just being a stupid dick now.
You should do your homework. Areas that have higher gun control actually have HIGHER rates of gun related crime! Places such as Russia, where you can get just about anything, have much lower rates of gun related crimes than we do in the USA.
Try watching this video for a little bit of facts.
And another thing you so ignorantly neglected to remember, it the entire point the right to bear arms was originally put into place. SO THAT WE, THE PEOPLE, CAN DEFEND OURSELVES FROM THE GOVERNMENT! Not just from criminals, not just for sport, but to assure that the government doesn't have total power over us!
And, yes, actually, a criminal is far less likely to rob a house if he knows that the owner is heavily armed, and far more likely to rob a house that he knows has no guns.
And outlawing firearms actually will not prevent criminals from acquiring them, because strangely enough, criminals don't really follow the laws! Gun laws only disarm law-abiding citizens, which actually makes things infinitely easier for criminals! (who woulda thought!?)
Not to mention the issue with ISIS in this country. You think a terrorist attack would be successful if the citizens they attacked were all armed? Hell no! The attack would be halted and resolved within seconds! Adversely, when none of the citizens are armed, an ISIS attack can claim hundreds of innocent lives. So, yes, having high-power weapons available to law abiding citizens IS beneficial!
I can see clearly now that you are fully in favor of this country falling into communism where the government has 100% control over its people, which means that you are a fool, and an enemy of the ideals of freedom and democracy, and this country!
Oh, and just so you know, those people who own dozens of guns, legally, aren't actually the ones committing the crimes. In fact I know of several people who have several firearms, and they are the most law abiding citizens that I know!

Oh, and here is another video that demonstrates what happens when terrorists attack a building that has an armed citizen.
So, yeah.
So, yeah.
so you do the job the police and state is not cabable of? dont let those arabic fanatists in your country then. beeing open and tolerant is important, I would offer a bed myself to one, but it´s like a cold:
if you let the wrong viruses in, they spread over your body and he does the rest when having fever.

The state is part of the government, and they are actually the ones trying to take our rights away.
As for the police, the local sheriffs are actually all in favor of the citizens having the right to bear arms, and to arm themselves. In fact, most of the sheriffs up here have claimed that if the time comes where the government attempts to confiscate our firearms, they will refuse to follow those orders, and will actually be fighting alongside the gun owning citizens, which would be the start of the revolution.
As for allowing ISIS into the country, that could possibly be the worst thing Obama has done, and to me, proves that he is an enemy of the USA, and is doing everything in his power to destroy us. In fact, I see Obama as a muslim terrorist himself!
And as for letting arab refuges into thew country, that too is a mistake. This country already has enough problems, we cannot afford to take on more people on welfare, which is exactly what they are all doing. We already have an all time high where it comes to unemployment and debt. What the USA needs to do, is close the borders completely, and try to become stabilized again before the whole country falls apart, like it seems to be on its way to do.

We call them "toys" because we have and use them mostly for recreational purposes, however, most of us are prepared to utilize them as tools to defend our rights, our families and our lives if needed.
As for the guns being trophies, I would say that is an inaccurate term. It is more accurate to call it a collectible or showpiece. A lot of us that have guns like to show off and compare our guns with others, as well as see what other people have, creating a community that opens each other to new models we may not see otherwise, different styles and modifications of firearms, and share knowledge with each other, so that we become more educated in the field.
It's a sport basically, even if it's just shooting targets. Some are more casual, like me, and just enjoy going to the range to shoot and try to sharpen my skills, where others are more serious, and enter professional target shooting competitions, and others like to use the firearms to hunt game for meat, as well as for sport.
Many people like to criticize gun owners, claiming that we are just a bunch of bloodthirsty, violent people, but that couldn't be any further from the truth. The fact is, it creates a closely knit community of very open and friendly people. Every time I have gone to the range, everyone has always been extremely polite, and helpful to one another, giving advice, and helping newer shooters to improve.
Also, they are the most patriotic group of people you will ever meet. They are the people who will stay loyal to this country, as it comes to the original ideals of freedom and government for the people. And they are the ones who are most likely to defend those ideals if war was to ever break out.

Unfortunately, because I live in California, it is next to impossible to get a 30 round clip, since they are illegal. You can sometimes find what are called 30-10s, that can be converted into a 30 clip, but even those are next to impossible to find, and converting them isn't guaranteed to work, since you have to stretch out the spring, and therefore weakening it.
