I always surprise people when i point of Orcas are dolphins, the name is a trap! hehe

I just read that, apparently, they were named killer whale because people saw them kill whales. The name was different, something like whale killer, but changed to how it is as it's easier/faster to say.
Might be wrong, but if true, it makes sense and is pretty interesting.

your right I knew orca's are known as a super dolphin cause up here that's something you learn before preschool in the northwest one time when I was 8 years old one was following the foot ferry from Bremerton to port orchard I saw the orca to the port side and was looking right at me and making the usual dolphin noises I was truly amazed it liked me I went to the starboard side it swam under and resurfaced there too mom was sure surprised too ever since then I always loved orcas and something special about that day really got me into studying about them and every little bit I could learn about them from local native legends and the local maritime science department gave me a lot of info on them, sure happy they are a protected species.
