Pokémon Mystery Romance
“So this is the place Roy?”
“From what I know, yeah. The directions are right, but I don’t know about the supposed treasure down below.”
“Eh, we’ll find out when we get down there.”
“Alright, but, erf… maybe you should go ahead, as I don’t think well both fit through the door at once.”
“Heh heh, yeah, you’re right.”
Standing in the first floor of the dungeon was a Lucario with a bit of a muffin top belly sloping gently off his middle, and some lovely wide hips and rump he was ashamed to admit was pretty comfortable. He was accompanied by a fairly round Blastoise, who was almost spherical due to the thick layers of blubber coating his body. This padding of theirs had been an unfortunate side-effect of a previous exploration mission that had left them trapped in a room until they were saved by a different adventuring party. Thankfully the results of a little overindulgence had only been temporary. Well, mostly temporary, anyways. Their speed stat had taken a bit of a dive since then, but at least their defence and special defence had gotten a decent boost in exchange. Not that that was saying much granted. Either way, after recovering it was back to adventuring, and what better person would Roy want to have than with Blue by his side. Err, wait, not that that has any connotations of course. After all, the jackal Pokémon enjoyed having his big turtle friend watching his back, but… damn it.
It’s hard to explain in big terms, but to put it simply, Roy had it bad for Blue. He couldn’t help how his heart felt, even though his mind told him that he really shouldn’t have a thing for his partner. Plus he had no idea whatsoever as to how the Blastoise would react to such a confession. It seemed best to keep it to himself, so they could keep their adventuring party more professional, more focused. Of course, it was growing harder to focus due to the big guy being, so, well, big. Size was another big factor here, and the tortoise Pokémon is hard to miss, and even harder to avoid sometimes. Sufficed to say that there were many times when they tried to go through a passage at the same time. Roy didn’t want to admit it, but he really enjoyed the feeling of their bellies smooshing against each other as they tried to pass. Just… just that general softness of Blue’s underside and his porky middle, well, it awoke some feelings the Lucario had desperately tried to keep quiet. Sometimes he wondered if…. “You okay Roy?”
“Huh?” Roy mumbled. He blinked a few times, and realized that he hadn’t even moved from the spot. He blushed with embarrassment as he lightly jogged to catch up with Blue. “S-sorry Blue, I got a bit distracted there” he apologised.
“It’s cool. So what were you thinking about? My ass as I was walking away?” the Blastoise joked.
The Lucario’s entire body went red, steam practically gushing out of his nostrils at that very suggestion. “Wh-WHAT?! NO! I, I, I, I was just thinking ahead to what we’re doing Blue. Just trying to remember if we have everything” he firmly insisted.
Blue laughed boisterously, his wobbly chin bouncing about. “You’re really uptight today Roy. You’ve checked our supplies five times now, I think we have everything, especially since you brought extra food this time” he grinned.
“Yeah, after the last time and what happened with those apples, I felt it was better safe than sorry” Roy smiled weakly as he took the lead.
“Too bad we didn’t think to keep some apples after we got rescued. I wouldn’t mind getting that big again in a less tight space” Blue chuckled as he followed the leader.
“I think you’re plenty big already Blue” Roy pointed out.
“Yeah, but you love me anyways” Blue grinned playfully.
“More than you know” the Lucario uttered under his breath.
Did Roy just say something just now? Huh. That guy was a bit strange at times, especially after their previous adventure. The jackal thought that Blue couldn’t see all those looks he was giving the Blastoise, but he knew, he could see them. Why was he doing that though? It was weird, but then, what was weirder was how he felt when he looked at the Lucario. It had started after their little misadventure, and he just couldn’t put a finger to it. He felt it most when Roy was putting on weight at a real fast rate, so, maybe he wanted to see the Lucario bigger? That could be it. But it would be hard talking to him about it, see if he’s game. It’s not like he was trying hard to work off his lingering gut anyways, so that’s something for later. He needed to be on his guard now, just in case he needed to protect Roy.
The Lucario in questioned was sniffing the air as they walked through a tight corridor. He could find the faint aroma of other Pokémon around, but there was also something else. It was hard to focus on, but there was something sort of distinct and alluring about it. “Hey, you got a good nose Blue, do you smell anything strange?” he asked.
The Blastoise’s wide nostrils flared as they sucked in heavy draughts of air. “There’s something there, and it smells kinda nice. Makes me feel funny though. I think the source is deeper down” he deduced.
“Think it might be something bad? Like a nasty Pokémon using Sweet Scent?” Roy questioned.
“Maybe, but it’s not pulling us, so I don’t think it’s Sweet Scent. Might be a plant of some kind though” Blue considered.
“It might be the treasure we’re after” Roy suggested.
“Maybe, let’s find out” Blue nodded.
“Alright” the Lucario nodded as he formed an Aura Sphere in preparation for the next room.
The deeper the two had gone, the more potent the aroma had become. It was actually starting to get on Roy’s nerves actually, since he could feel a weight forming in his chest. Something kept playing on his mind, and no matter how hard he tried to focus, it would be lost in seconds as he tried to figure out what was bothering him. His accuracy was actually taking a hit as his concentration declined, and he had actually almost his Blue with one of his Aura Spheres. He had apologised many times, but the Blastoise had become, well, weird afterwards. He wasn’t chatting much as they took a break to snack, and strangely he wasn’t eating as much as he usually did. It wasn’t odd for Blue to devour several Huge Apples in succession, and now he was struggling with a third. “Hey Blue, you okay? You aren’t cleaning out our bag like you usually do” Roy pointed out.
“I dunno Roy, something just feels strange is all” Blue answered gruffly as he chomped on an apple. “Like, I dunno. I just, dunno. Do you feel strange?”
“Well, kinda, yeah. Something does feel strange, but it’s kinda hard for me to explain it” Roy replied lethargically.
He knew what it was, as much as he tried to push it away. The deeper he went, the more he yearned to tell Blue how he felt, and now his feelings were sitting hard in his chest. It almost felt like an entire Golem was camping on his chest. “Yeah, I get what you mean Roy. I kinda, can’t explain what I feel right now, it’s just a strange feeling, right here” the Blastoise murmured as he lightly pounded his chest.
“Y-yeah, it’s uhh, hard to explain” the Lucario stammered. And the conversation just dropped there, allowing for an awkward silence to smother the two until the lunchbreak was over. “We-we should move on now” Roy announced as he suddenly got up.
“Y-yeah” Blue nodded, joining his partner.
Dusting themselves off, they abandoned their apple cores to rot as they continued on into the next room, which was quite suspiciously abandoned. “Odd, no one’s here” Roy noted with heavy suspicion.
“Yeah, but this is a small room, so maybe an ambush is waiting in another one?” Blue remarked. CLICK! “Oh dear.”
An icon appeared beneath the Blastoise’s feet, depicting a picture of an angry looking house. “A trap” Roy wheezed in disbelief.
After not finding one for so long, why didn’t he think to look for traps? Especially a damnable Monster House trap of all things? The two teammates went back-to-back, trying to cover each other’s blind spots as various Pokémon fell from the roof, which I always found weird. Were they clinging to the roof or something? Either way, various Pokémon species had them surrounded, but they didn’t seem like they were interested I tearing them apart. In fact, they all has strangely dulled eyes and colour palettes. “You ready for this Roy?” Blue whispered to his comrade.
“Always” Roy whispered back, an Aura Sphere in hand. Firing it off, it impacted on a nearby Weavile, causing the Pokémon to shatter like glass. “They’re fakes” the Lucario realized.
“Well, at least then we don’t have to feel guilty about kicking their butts” Blue laughed as he got down on all fours, allowing his cannons do the talking as he unleashed a Hydro Pump that struck down six of the enemy mons, busting them apart. But no sooner had he gotten rid of them did several more various Pokémon take their place. “Oh, that’s not good.”
“Watch out!” Roy shouted as a random attack went flying, missing the two by a hair.
“THIS IS NUTS!” Blue roared loudly as he hastily side-stepped another attack. Drawing from his own personal bag space, the Blastoise desperately removed a Ringlet, which contained a glowing crystalline substance.
“Blue, that isn’t-”
“Yeah, it’s an Awakening Emera. It’s our only chance!” said a very desperate Blue.
“But you’ll go-”
“Berserk, I know. But we’ll need a mega for this if we hope to survive” the Blastoise insisted.
“Alright, but try to let me get to safety before you do” Roy conceded nervously.
The Blastoise nodded grimly, and he activated the Emera. Power surged through him as a shell formed around him, he mega symbol forming on it as I shattered, revealing Mega Blue in all his glory. The force of the blast knocked the enemy Pokémon back a bit, but the sudden appearance of the mega Pokémon seemed to agitate them, driving them to attack harder. “HWOOOOOAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!” Blue roared as he unleashed the full might of his cannons.
The onslaught of water annihilated anything it struck, clearing out a good number of enemy Pokémon. He was actually managing to destroy more than the room could make, thinning their numbers enough for the way out to be clear. “Good luck” Roy whispered as he made for the open doorway, dodge-rolling out of the room as it flooded with water.
The Lucario watched on, his heart pounding in his throat as Blue was mobbed by attackers. Two clung to his arms, but he blasted them off easily. A particular clingy Charmeleon leapt onto his back, but it didn’t last long as one Rapid Spin hurled it off into a group of its pals. His body ached from the effort of fighting alone, and he knew he didn’t have long until the berserk mode. Thankfully Roy was out of the room, so he wouldn’t be able to harm him. He didn’t know what he’d do if he did. Closing his eyes out of acceptance, Blue unleashed everything he had on the endless tide of enemies, the Emera almost out of power. GGGGGUUUUURRRRRGGGGGLLLLLLEEEE!!! Oh, that wasn’t right. “Oh dear.”
“Blue?” Roy uttered from outside the room.
Everything beyond the room was still, save for the intense gurgling and churning of the Blastoise’s stomach. And then... BLORP! Blue’s gut expanded dramatically, dropping to his knees as his mega form wore off. BLORP! His belly expanded again, growing large enough to make contact with the floor. BLORP! BLORP! BLORP! With every successful surge, his entire body gained weight at a terrific rate, growing thicker and flabbier by every passing seconds. Thick creases formed along his forearms and where his biceps were supposed to be, the blubber sagging downwards as his already stubby legs completely overshadowed his feet. Blue groaned loudly as his knees buckled, dropping him onto his heaving, wobbling jelly belly. The tortoise Pokémon’s size increased dramatically again, his lardy self expanding out in all directions, his shell becoming humorously small as it sat above his titanic rump, with his mammothin belly surging like the tide. That did it. Without warning Blue’s mass exploded outwards, filling the room at an insane rate. The tsunami of his sides impacted the enemy Pokémon, smashing them into bits as the massive Blastoise took up the entire room, annihilating everything else in there, including the trap which shattered beneath his bulk. Blue’s head, thankfully, had maneuvered into the opening Roy had ran through. In fact, it was a mere foot away from the speechless Lucario, with the rest of his bulk packed tightly into whatever space the doorway had. “Oooouuuuggghhhh” Blue groaned weakly.
“This is starting to begin WAAAY to much of a thing. What the heck happened Blue?” the concerned Lucario asked.
The Blastoise’s response was to cough, something shiny evacuating his mouth. The two eyed the golden apple core lying on the stone floor. “You didn’t…” Roy uttered.
Blue’s very bloated cheeks were cherry red, a slightly embarrassed and guilty look on his face. “I uhh, well, may have kept a few apples on me after we were rescued. I asked one of our rescuers to hide it in my bag for me. I got a little too hungry before our mission, so I ate one, since it doesn’t affect me as much as you, so you wouldn’t notice. I guess it reacted badly with the Emera” he chuckled guiltily.
Roy sighed loudly, and he just had to hug whatever part of Blue he could reach. “Don’t scare me like that” he whispered into his friend’s ear.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you with the Emera” Blue apologised sincerely.
“I mean trying to fight alone. Choosing to Mega Evolve was really ballsy, and I don’t know what I’d do if you had fainted with all those attacking Pokémon around. I really don’t want to lose you Blue. I love you man” Roy confessed.
“You… love… me?” Blue slowly repeated.
Oh Arceus, did he just say that out loud? The Lucario’s face turned crimson as he realized he had. “W-wait, wh-what I mean is, well, platonically I love you. You’re my friend and teammate, and I really don’t want to lose you” Roy hastily explained.
“Oh” Blue uttered in a hurt voice.
“Huh?”
“Well, it’s just, I… I kinda do like you, in that way” the Blastoise admitted. “I didn’t know it at first, but the longer we stayed in the dungeon, I think I realized I had feelings for you. B-but if you just want to be friend that’s fi-”
“NO!” Roy shrieked suddenly, his fur on ends as he waved his arms like a madman. Composing himself, the Lucario held his friend’s bulbous chins in his paws. “No, I don’t want to be just friends Blue. I’m sorry, I lied, okay? I’ve always liked you, but I didn’t know how you felt about me, so I figured it would be awkward if I told you. I… I was afraid of rejection, alright? If you rejected me, I don’t think I could have handled it. I was afraid the team would fall apart, and that I would never see you again” he hysterically rambled.
“Did you really think about all that?” Blue asked.
“YES!” Roy desperately answered. “Yes, okay, I did” he sighed despondently. “Look, I like you, I like seeing you big, and I like being with you. I know I could live without you, but I don’t want that. I got scared when I sort of admitted, I loved you.”
“Not sort of, you flat out told me” Blue corrected.
“Thanks. Look Blue, I do love you, okay? I’m just glad- No, I’m RELIEVED that you feel the same” Roy smiled warmly.
“Well, after all that I dunno if I feel the same way anymore” Blue replied, though he did smirk when he saw Roy’s jaw plummet. “I’m joking sweetie” he winked evilly.
The Lucario pouted as hard as he could as he punched the Blastoise in his fat… shoulder? (There’s so much of him I have no idea what is even being hit.) “That’s a dickish thing to do” he snapped lividly.
“So was telling me you liked me, and then taking it back” Blue countered.
“You’re an ass.”
“But now I know you literally love every last square foot of it.”
