Another little-known fact about me: I have a deep fascination for World War I.
This submission is intended to mark the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Somme Offensive (July 1, 1916), which, intentionally contrary to the title, was the deadliest day that the British Army ever faced during the war, as well as its entire history.
Because of the gas mask concealing her face, the standing figure with Lee-Enfield rifle is a lioness. The Daily Mirror newspaper article shown above is the only item that I do not claim as my original work.
