The method is called Lost Graphite where you sketch whatever, then take a gray marker over the lines you want to keep. Erase what you can then fine tune it with a ball point pen. It's commonly done with wash-medium which is basically watercolor painting but with watered down ink for the gray. Markers are a lot cleaner and convenient. ^_^
