Brombear wanted a drawing of the two of us doing a Good ole boy sport....Fishing!Anybody who's fished northern waters knows the fame of Northern Pike and Muskie as freshwater torpedoes.
Plus not to knock the fight a large bluegill will give you, especially on a light rig.

I've never known Bluegill to ever be happy when hooked.
I once kept Bluegill as pets in a 55 gallon tank, some of the best aquarium fish I ever had, easy as all hell to feed. Once domesticated, they would eagerly rush the corner of the tank when I would bring them treats like minnows, crickets, grasshoppers.

I spend some time up at my Mom's place in Oconto county each year, and I totally believe you about Northerns and Bluegills!
The big bluegills will fight even harder than a largemouth bass, and Northerns are notorious for doing a "follow-up," grabbing a good-size bluegill you've got hooked, leaving teeth marks on 'em.
But bluegills sure taste good filleted, dipped in butter and flour and fried up in an iron skillet.

I hear ya on the big fish, channel cat are the same way and bass aren't too lazy on the hook either. My greatest feat, though, was catching several sunfish with a catfish hook. :/ How the hell such a small fish got caught on a cat hook I'll never know, but it provided for hours of amusement.
