Pronounced: "LEE-oh-gard"
Height: 7’10”
Age: 28
Race: Gold dragon
Leogard and his twin sisters were orphaned at a young age when their mother was killed in a horrific (and suspicious) accident. They had never known their father. The three were left to fend for themselves in the seedy neighborhood they lived in. Leogard made friends with a group of bikers, blowing everyone away with his amazing riding skills despite being only 15 years old. Soon after that, word came down that Zidnor was recruiting pilots. Leo was extremely confident that his skills would translate to whatever aircraft or spacecraft they wanted him to fly, and he knew the Zidnorians paid their pilots well. He volunteered, and was transported to Zidnor for a tryout.
The recruiters' jaws dropped. Leogard set new records in every flight test he was given. He was a natural. The Zidnorians took the unprecedented step of assigning Leogard directly to the royal squadron--the elite group of pilots who, among other things, were entrusted with personally flying members of the royal family from place to place. This honor was normally bestowed only upon pilots with years and years of experience. As per tradition, the new members of the royal squadron were taken to the palace to meet the royal family. Unfortunately, King Nerik and Queen Irissa had urgent business to take care of at the time, so Princess Turja, the highest-ranking member of the royal family who was available, received the new squadron members. Though Leo was preternaturally gifted when it came to controlling vehicles, he was still inexperienced and unrefined. When it came time for him to greet the princess, Leo could only utter a simple "Hey", earning him a stern scolding from the master of the squadron. But Turja immediately liked the young gold dragon. She'd never met anyone quite like him before. His down-to-earth personality was a welcome contrast to her relatives' constant need to micromanage her life. The two became best friends, and when Turja became queen a few years later, she insisted that Leogard be her personal pilot.
It was Leogard who introduced Turja to heavy metal, and he's quite an accomplished guitarist himself. He's a metal purist and can't comprehend why Turja has taken a liking to "nu metal", which he can't stand. But their musical tastes are much more similar than they are different. Leo has also showed Turja how to party hearty, and has taught her much of the filthy language she's fond of using, much to the royal family's dismay. He loves playing with his band, having a few beers at the bar, telling non-dragons that he needs the alcohol to fuel his fire breath, and seeing who's gullible enough to believe it.
