My entry for Anthro Challenge over on DA, with the theme "star."
I suppose it's a literal interpretation of the theme, but it's an excuse for me to do space themed anthro art. =3 For astronomy nerds, yeah Alpha Centauri is a binary star system. (not counting Proxima, orbiting 12,000 AU away) I just chose to hide Centauri B from this picture. =P
I suppose I should give you guys a little story behind this picture. It is the year 2852, and the fox you see here is a worker on one of the moons orbiting the planet Kleitos, a rocky planet with two moons. Kleitos is 1.6 earth masses, and both moons are somewhat larger than Earth's moon. What has attracted this worker (among many more) is the substance you see covering the moon, which they nicknamed Stellar Snow. It's not snow exactly, it's melting point is 341ºC and the moon's temperature is rather pleasant. However when melted and cooled, it forms a substance like metal, however 15x stronger than titanium. It's currently being used for space ships to protect against attacks and stellar debris.
Yeah, I'm a nerd. :B But I like stories behind sci-fi related art. =3

A couple of minor criticisms:
Planetary crescents should point toward the star that's illuminating them, like the moon at the upper right. The image of the moon at the lower left, however, is illuminated from the top. I think it would be more realistic if it were rotated slightly clockwise toward the sun.
Also, wouldn't there some highlights on the miner?
Looks good!

The sun was actually positioned directly above the second moon that you mentioned earlier into this picture, but I moved it later on to help with the composition. You do raise a point, because I didn't adjust the lighting on the moon to reflect that move. Thanks for the critique! I might be able to edit the picture easily, since I'd just be rotating a circular object.
As for highlights, there *could* be, but since this is a totally different atmosphere from what we have, I decided some softer lighting would be nice. =3 I did however try highlights, but I felt the miner without them looks more pleasing to the eye. And since this is a different planet, I can get away with more. ;) lol
Thanks for the comment!

Absolutely gorgeous. :D
The background is fantastic on this one.
Stories behind the art are always good! I love to hear about the artist's thoughts on a piece. I wish more artists would give greater detail regarding the thought processes and stories behind their work, it makes the submissions much more interesting.

I like your picture and creativity in making up Sci-Fi themes and stories. .
I also lke the picture due to the fact I used to be obsessed with playing Sid Meir's Alpha Centauri back in the late 90s.
As a little suggestion and opinion, you should of added city lights visible on one of the bodies in the sky, to discern better, the planet from the moon and give a really cool effect. After all, even the smallest of towns and cities can be seen from space when their lights are on.
