You should give people more technical details, because it is easy to believe some are gifted with natural talent when it is all work and perseverance. For instance, give the following details :
Thinking time : how long has it required you to get the whole picture in mind, how many changes
Sketch support : paper or digital, monochrome or color
Sketch time : how long to put the first pieces into reality
Detailing : ...
Coloring : ...
Postprod : ...
If a professional like you tells that such a piece of art takes 2 weeks, 7 or 8 h/day, 6 days/week, that gives some numbers to imagine how long a rookie would take to make something just a quarter as good. Just like reading a good book, drawing requires some dedicated time to give. Planning such exercise in the long run is not always easy as one would perhaps loose patience after a while.
What is the motivation behind it in the first place ? Drawing for fun or for a living ? Does it worth the time investment ? Only the one that wants to get involved into drawing can answer this, but just sitting down and drawing is not always what looks like a good start. There are many books and youtube channels about learning basics of drawing, like shaping, shadowing and perspective rendering.
However the initial conception of the scenery, what the image will looks like at the ends, without taking into account the various details about drawing techniques, coloring talent and stuff, is not always easy. In fact it requires so many various complementary skills that I can understand people having high hopes yet being conscious about their inability to achieve something like this in a reasonable time-frame finally abandon the battle with pencils and brush and just return to their basic state of contemplation. Drooling. Dreaming.
