Oh, wow! Damn right this wasn't what I was expecting, but that's amazing!
I'm impressed at how the Major Circuit theme from Little Mac's Punch-Out!! could remind you of the Maverick Hunter, Zero! Not sure how that happened that way, but that's hilarious and awesome at the same time! If I had known you were gonna go that route, I would've given you Zero's theme from UMvC3 instead!
Where to begin with this beauty? Excellent choice of the pose making him look badass showing his back off like that. Very impressive work designing Zero's outfit around Leo like that; the custom hole in the back for his tail is a very nice touch! Well done on getting a tough, confident expression on him as he looks back at the viewer. Colour palettes for Zero's outfit and Leo's fur colour are spot-on, and nice work on the lighting and shading all around. Totally awesome laser sword Leo's holding there, too! Nice idea for a technological background as well as throwing in some text in computerised font for effect. Also is that his paw-print tattoo on his arm? And did you actually draw Leo's crest on his back like that? That's frickin' badass, man! Bonus points all around!
Doesn't Zero normally have that thick yellow fluff of hair (kinda like a ponytail) in the back of his head? If that were the case, wouldn't it have made sense to have had one for Leo in his hairdo/mane colour? Then, it probably would've cut out a lot of his appearance in the image. So I'm not worried overall.

Of course you can repost this bad boy. I'm really happy with how it turned out so love more people to see it.
The big part of the crest I stenciled then warped from the ref sheet 'cause I kept messin up the negative space in the bottom of it, but the others were simple enough to do with a calligraphy brush :p also yeah, Zero wears his hair in a ponytail he pulls through a slot in his helmet but with the angle of the pose decided to have Leo keepin' his hair under the helmet so you could see him better, hope that was ok :p
Thought the fluted 'wing' shapes in the helm spoke a bit to Leo's maned hair, too.
And yeah, no idea why but I kept thinking Megaman X4 with that Punch Out music XD, didn't even know Zero was in MvC 3 :p I don't have any new consoles and never go to the arcade anymore, sadly, lol.
Also changed the forehead crystal in Leo's helmet, along with his sword and the crystal in his boots to be fiery orange instead of Zero's normal blue to go with the fire chakra XD

Yeah, I figured as far as the hair, but that's totally cool. I'm okay with it! XP And that's true, too; those helmet "wing" shapes did him justice a bit referencing his normal spiky mane. XP

Also only now did I just realise that Leo's missing his three "whisker" lines on his cheek (not actual whiskers, but lines like them from Naruto). Then again, he's probably angled in such a way that his helmet's blocking the lines. If that's the case, I'm okay with that, too.
