Sounds like a story of a child who was forced to be a Gym leader cuz of Family. Something May almost felt in but she became a Pokemon contest coordinator. XP

well it's kinda like that uvu my dad and I came from johto (to this new fakemon region, that was the main purpose of the creation of this oc) he was a mine-worker and the gym leader of the town we move into, but one day he died, cuz the mine collapsed on him, so I took care of the gym uvu
also that mine was to get minerals we use in town to make beatiful arts and crafts to sell as decoration~
