This is also a new character of mine, adopted from haruki-chan2 on DA
For a while I had been thinking of creating a character with the name Kumbayah.
Kumbayah is a phrase from the Gullah dialect of coastal South Carolina, and was popularized by the gospel/campfire song 'Kumbaya, My Lord'
The phrase itself means 'Come by here'.
Kumbayah My Lord itself started life as a spiritual first recorded in the late 1920's. Later it was used by American missionaries to Angola, where the song's origins were forgotten. Then in the 1950's the song came back to the U.S., resulting in many printings today connecting it to Angola, since it was perceived as the country of origin for the song.
It came to be picked up by groups like the boy scouts and girl scouts, evolving from a African spiritual into a campfire melody.
I'm not including her in my Aelurian character box as of yet, because I hove yet to decided what to do with her.
