For a while it was unclear whether Vanessa was even going to be around for very long, as her lack of motivation meant she had fallen behind on learning new moves (and claiming that her constantly abusing Assist made up for it), not to mention her growing vocal displeasure for the "lawless hedonistic wasteland" that she felt the school was becoming. Shortly before Principal Aubtraum showed up, she had even considered dropping out altogether with the belief that she was just wasting her time when she could be preparing for her planned career as a movie star.

After the regime change took place however, it made Vanessa stop and think about everything. She came to feel that by getting wrapped up in complaining about the numerous flaws she saw in the school at large, she had been no better by neglecting her studies and letting down her teammates, the few folks at the PCA she considered to be sane individuals. After a long talk with her team, she agreed to move back to alternate status to catch up on her battle skill and allow another teammate to get in some more experience, and recently she's been showing much more promise. After all, nobody achieves true stardom by half-assing it, right?
