Ashleigh has faced a number of obstacles in getting her dreams of professional battling on track. First was the lack of proper facilities in her home region of Fiore, which is small and not known for its pro battling scene. Second was playing catchup when transferring to the PCA, since her skills were just barely metting the minimum requirements at the time. Finally was the fact that when she evolved to a Flareon, her body was adjusting to the new changes very slowly and thus developed a condition where too much overextertion caused her to overheat dangerously. While she's been able to offset the problem some by letting her fur grow out extra-fluffy (the way that Flareons radiate out body heat and regulater their temperature), it's still something she always has to keep in mind.

Still, despite all the challenges she's faced Ashleigh is determined to succeed in her goal, and has made remarkable improvements over the year. She chalks it up mostly to the support that her teammates have been giving her (especially Eddie, who she's become quite fond of since meeting him), and recently she's also been moved up to full-time status on the team in the hopes that the extra battle experience will help her along even more.
