These massive reptiles are the largest terrestrial herbivores on Ceal. Reaching heights of up to 6 meters, these giants are invincible to all but the most fierce predators, such as the mighty Greatdragons, or a well-coordinated pack of feral Dragonmounts or Riding Gryphs.
Apart from their impressive size, their main method of defense is their tail, which is adorned by three pairs of bone plates, the edges of which are razor-sharp. By swinging its highly flexible tail, an Epiphra can thus inflict crippling or even fatal wounds as if wielding a giant axe.
Epiphras mostly feed on leaves, twigs, fruit, bark, grass and roots. Their long neck allows them to reach higher branches, giving them access to premium foliage, which they only have to share with elephants and giraffes. What's more, their long and flexible tail allows them to balance while rearing up on their hind legs, allowing them to reach branches as high as 10 meters above the ground.
Being herd animals, they usually form small groups of five to nine animals. These groups are usually either harems of females guarded by one dominant male, or bachelor groups of unmated males.
