Even though I'm a little bit late for 'Fat Tuesday 2009', I thought I'd present an appropriate drawing for the occasion...
A few weeks ago, I'd received a rare request from "FA" member Draco Rex
asking me to draw a sequel to one of my earlier works in the gallery, "Gumbo Jumbo". I'd felt like doing it for a while, only I wanted to present it around the time of the annual Mardi Gras in New Orleans.
Once again, the principal character is a ponderous pachyderm with a penchant for consuming massive amounts of soup... in particular, jambalaya! This time, instead of sucking the soup out of a traditional cooking pot, this elephant has hooked up his trunk to an enormous vat of jambalaya - making absolutely sure that he doesn't spill a single drop of the stuff! Meanwhile, his bloated belly has spilled out between his (now) torn shirt and his pants (which are on the verge of bursting themselves)!
As in my previous "Gumbo Jumbo" drawing (from 2007), this work is a blend of black fine line marker pens, colored pencils, and additional colors (and effects) provided by an art program in my computer.
