I made this pic to show the differences between my relatively "realistic" anthro style and my toony style. Also, over on other forums, some folks had seemingly assumed that cause I mostly posted toons that that must be all I was capable of making. As such, some folks had therefore viewed my work a tad dismissively. Which is ok. We all have different tastes. There are were-art fans, toon fans, anime-anthro fans etc. But their assumptions kind of felt like someone assuming that just cause someone plays rock and roll, they can't understand more classical music stuff.
In reality, I had been studying a variety of styles all along, though I do lean towards less realistic stuff most of the time cause I love expression and the freedom of less realistic anthro drawings. Anyway, I finally posted this pic to show em that I could do stuff other than conventional cute toons. It has plenty of flaws and is an older pic now. But I still think it gets the point across well. And, though the inking and coloring took much longer, it only took like 15 minutes to finish the initial drawing for this, yet when I posted it, people who normally ignored my work were all like, "Oh, NOW you can draw!". Whatever. Sheesh.

hmm i like realistic bette rpersonally because my own style leans to something some what realistically ( the bodies are the heads are very much anime )
anyway the cartoony version is more animated probabaly because you are more used to that style
and why shouldnt you ?
a s long as you a e happy with your style and what you draw who cares what total strangers say ?

Thanks. Well, I wanted the toon to be sort of silly in comparison to the staid wolf gal so she is strikin a cheeky pose. I think most artists are in the position of having to care what strangers say. For all the talk of just being true to ourselves and the art, while we are not all willing to compromise, we certainly do care about our reputations and how our work is received. I don't want to simply pander, but it's a complciated balance between what is aesthetically pleasing to the average eye and what interests the artist.
hmm yes you are right about our reputations and how our art is recieved but you can also not worry too much about what people say about your art
especially not what passing strangers say about it
if you ge thung up about every thing they say sooner or later you lock up and dont wnat to draw any more
