Patreon Choice: Musteladies
A piece with a theme chosen by my patrons, this piece done for the March Patreon Choice depicts my Musteladies (left to right: Kim, Jen, Mel, Liz and Nat), having fun flying kites in a picturesque, although not very safe spot.

I totally believe that if you can see it in your mind, then you'll be able to do it with your hand one day, if you persevere and keep your eyes on the prize. It saddens me that so many people don't agree with this and feel that they'll never be able to acquire any kind of drawing skill. However, I feel that this is because they hold great expectations for the results of their efforts without spending the time to acquire the basic skills, the building blocks upon which the ability to create appealing illustrations is founded.
I think that the most important quality needed to become a good illustrator is a solid aesthetic sense. If you have a good idea of where you want to go, then it's easier to find a path that will take you there, and if you are able to tell, within a certain illustration, just what makes it appealing to you, that's a really good sign that you have such a sense. Just be patient and methodical, don't burn yourself out, be careful about shortcuts, take little steps and pride yourself on each of them that bring you nearer to your goal. Sooner or later, it is likely that, even if you haven't yet reached that place, you'll find yourself somewhere pretty interesting. Enjoy the trip! :)
Thank you for enjoying this!

Darn, a month passes quickly.
Any way, true what you say, I could probably accomplish a lot more if I focus on it
Not sure if I would reach your level of skill in traditional/digital drawing, coloring, and shading, but I could be a lot further than I am right now with drawing practice.
Like you say, I have such big expectations that I don't really take the time to learn and appreciate the basics first.
It is sometimes a challenge though to really find out for myself what direction I really want to go, I still imitate others to much, designs and styles, but mostly because I like those so much.
I am my own biggest obstacle.
Would love to see you draw my OC's one day if I can afford it.
