RebelSqurl. Since I was a kid I have had a love for aviation. I grew up drawing them, building models of them, going to airports to watch them, and reading tons of books about aircraft and the folks that built and flew them. So when Rebel asked me to do a WWII RAF piece I was more than happy to do it! Especially since it gave me a chance to draw a Supermarine Spitfire which I consider one of the most iconic aircraft of all times.

That is very nice work. There are a number of aircraft that I consider iconic, the Supermarine Spitfire and the North American p-51 Mustang are on the list for World War Two era.
Prewar the list would be the Piper Cub, the DC-2 and DC-3, the Bellanca Pacemaker, Skyrocket and Aircruiser.

Reminds me of 'Enemy Ace: War in Heaven' where Hans Von Hammer had just narrowly missed being strafed by a pair of Spitfires. "The man who designed that looked to the sky and dreamed of eagles." (next panel, looking at an ME-163 Komet) "And the man who designed that thought 'toad.'"
I can just imagine the note of aristocratic disdain it was said with.

I commented on this over on FA, but damn I forgot to do so here! Sorry Baron, but MANY, MANY THANKS for drawing this for me! I love it!
Btw, for those wondering, the "XR" lettering on the Spitfire Mk. Ia there is a reference to No. 71 Squadron, the first of the "Eagle Squadrons" of the RAF that were composed primarily of expatriate American flight crews. The 71st was later reabsorbed into the USAAF to become the 334th Fighter Squadron of the 4th Fighter Group.
(And yes, for those historical nuts, I know the 71st originally flew Hurricanes when first formed. This is as much a homage to my virtual flying squadron, the 71st Aces High group. We fly mainly the IL-2 Sturmovik flight sim series, with forays into DCS from time to time.)
