I made a species... yeey .w.
(Please note these are a closed species, if you're interested in owning one you'll have to purchase a custom one at $25 or keep an eye out for an auction)
Lioetta are a aquatic sub-species of lion or... sea lion ... if you will who mainly inhabit tropical coastlines though there are some variations found in places ranging from arctic to swampy.
They come in a wide verity of colors and patterns with their fur feeling similar to that of sea otters. Though being related to lions both male and female posses "manes" though not made of fur but instead fins that have iridescent properties at the tips, it's often believed that those with the brighter more colorful the fins are more likely to attract a mates, though pure white and pure black fins have also shown to be fairly successful as well.
When hunting they will dive down deep into the water, hiding in dug out "dens" concealing their bright fins and draping out their long antennae like lures. These lures have bulbs that glow and blink to attract prey, once the unsuspecting fish or sea animal draws close they spring from the den, more often than not snapping their strong jaws down on the creature, making quick work of it easily. Able to stay underwater for up to 10 hours they're able to patiently wait without moving an inch
Though all members of a pride are capable of hunting it's usually a select few that perform the task, while others who aren't hunters are split up into other jobs such as guarding the territory or tending to the young. No job being assigned to any particular gender the only real difference between male and female are size, with males usually being the larger and bulkier of the bunch, though it isn't unheard of for there to be small males or large females, or even instances of having attributes of both genders. Stylization of both head fins and tail fins is also quite common ranging from short styles, to long, to bald, though the fins located on the back are never altered as they are used to sense movements in water, helping to locate both danger and prey
