A race from my scifi universe that I am always working on.... I'll copy/paste the info from the DA post of this
Totally inspired by the Halo Brutes...while watching Doctor Who C:
anyways
In the First War, the Virrans were a major force in the conflict, working against the Modifiers. Greedy and eager to expand their empire, the Virrans contacted the Ravagers in order to gain an alliance with them against the Modifiers. It was a successful agreement, and the two joined forces. The Virrans fought under this promise: The Virrans will rule over half of the Universe, and the Ravagers may consume the other half. Realistically, the Ravagers would have destroyed the Virrans after the Modifiers were defeated. However both the Ravagers and the Virrans lost the war. In the conflict, the Modifiers grew annoyed by the Virran Solar Empire's powerful navy and military, and their numbers made them very dangerous, compaired to the few Ravagers. The Virran military force was totally obliterated in the war, along with all their colonies. Then Only Vi was left, the Virran homeworld. Instead of genocide, the Modifiers instead disabled the species. They bombed the surface of Vi with biological weapons designed to cause them to degenerate back into un-intellegant animals. All their technology was now useless to them as they slowly lost their ability to understand it. Within a few months the Virrans were reduced to mere wildlife on their world of Vi. Their grand military history, bold conquests, and epic battles... all lost to time, as their sociaty melted away with their skills, memories, and ability to understand a language.
In the Modern Ides of March Universe, several billion years later, the Virrans are now fully evolved and back on the galactic scene.
