I would say only two Zero Suit references matter. The 3D trophies from Smash Brothers Brawl and WiiU/3DS.

Those are the two best designed, official, and easiest to reference. They can be carefully viewed from all angles. Even if you don't have those games, screenshots and videos are not hard to find. The only question is ... Brawl version, or Rocket Heels version?

The Smash 4 version is even available as an Amiibo.

I chose the one that I could get a good back and front shot of.

As a handheld game player of almost nothing but Layton, Phoenix Wright, and Fire Emblem, Metroid is completely lost on me.
