The streets were silent. Barely any person there to warm the morning. Kar' nervously stood by a window with a sign next to it. 'Finest Poetry' was what it said. After gathering his courage, the dragon leaned into the window and insecurely called, "H-hellooo?" He paused and waited for a response but nothing. His face shifted into a frown. "Hellooooooo..." He called again, hoping someone would come, because this was really twisting his nerves. Kar'haz pulled his head out of the window and sat down. He fidgeted nervously in his place. This was the place, wasn't it? Gharion told him that the sign will say 'Finest poetry', the curtains will be open, and the lady should be there. His face kept shifting in all sorts of confused and desperate faces. He poked his head through the window again. "Anyone heeere?" he asked the dark emptiness. Kar figured he'd wait. If there was anything mum has taught him, it's that patience is key.
After half an hour he heard a shout, "Kaaar?" But it wasn't from the window by which he had waited so tantalizingly long, it was from the street.
Before he managed turn his head he already had Maya's face in his. "Why are you taking so long?" She asked in a fun voice, "You just had to pick up a paper, nothing else!"
Kar' felt a bit guilty for taking so long, but justified his hesitation to return to the general, "The lady isn't responding!" He spoke frustrated and confused. "I called several times, is she even here?"
Maya snorted, obviously amused to his confusion.
The purple dragon's face shifted even more frustrated, "I don't know what to do!"
Maya bumped Kar' aside and poked the metallic bell on the counter which let out a high piched 'DING'.
Kar looked at Maya confused as she got out of the way for Kar'haz again.
"HOoooooow can I help youuu?" A very expressive woman came by the window.
"I-i..." he was caught by surprise until he finally found his words, "I- was sent by the general, after papers." Kar formed a very imprecise sentence, but it was enough for the woman.
"Ooooh!-" she exclaimed and pulled out a paper roll out of her counter's drawer and placed it onto the surface, "Here you go!" After that she just left the counter again.
Kar' looked at Maya who was already half way of the street, just laughing her butt off.
Kar'haz had never been in such a city, how was he supposed to know how this worked?!
