During a Drawpile session with
hexadoodle and
Zee The DiaperCritter, one of Hex's drawings reminded me of this CatDog-style merge idea which I knew he was a fan of, so I had fun drawing these silly guys and blending their colours & markings together :D
Kree's stripes spilled over to Hex's spine, and Hex's froggy spots and underbelly leaked over onto Kree :P
I wanted to do something more visually-interesting for the next one, so I figured a jump would be entertaining! Who knows how Hex managed to convince Kree to do the leg motions, but it would certainly be quite scary to be moving backwards like that all the time and just pushing back against the ground semi-blindly… XD
As for the third one I was fishing for ideas and Hex suggested a drawing of them getting stuck attempting to cross a gap. I can't remember the exact humorous banter he said when I finished it, but it went something like:
"Ahhh let go! We can get back up and try again!"
"No I've got this you let go!"
I was originally just alpha-matizing the drawings but I started colouring in a few things and then bam, silly elaboration on the background nonsense and coloured in Hex's little Wildcard (the octopus) sketch down there :3
and yes, not the most unique of titles but you know I gotta go for that sweet sweet CatDog nostalgia :D
For those interested, the rest of the Drawpile session (or at least, my half. there was an earlier segment of it I missed) is here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/20186250/

I really like the idea of 'spilling' colorations. Like you sit too close to someone at the bus station and you've suddenly got their freckles and they've got your skewbald.
Or crashing around a corner and suddenly you're both calico, which is confusing as neither of you was to begin with.

My initial reaction was "huh?", and then after a Google search it was "oh yeah… that…". That weird game from way back in the Flash era of the Internet. It's funny the kinds of obscure incidental stuff the brain decides to store in long term memory.
But nevertheless, it was but a coincidence that I am not the first person to mash the concepts of Frog and Lizard together :V
