This is an array of smithing that I did today, from top to bottom:
Initial railroad spike:
Slightly rusted, the lip of the head needs to be cleaned up and the whole piece tapered down.
Cleaned Railroad spike:
I have hammered down the head even with the rest of the spike, cleaned it up and got it ready to be worked into a tool.
Failed Tong:
First attempt at a tong, you can see the nipple of my first attempt at a punch which failed. Did some reading and figured out I was supposed to turn the piece over and hammer the punch in reverse to hopefully sheer a slug out of the punched hole.
