This is a character of mine for an anime series I've been writing in my head for the past couple years now. If he looks familiar... and you'd have to be stretching pretty far back for him to be familiar... then you may notice that I used a variation of his character for the "Final Boss" in the CCI Competition comic series I was doing when I first arrived at FA.
I was compelled, after much time without doing anything artwise with the series, to try drawing up his forms. The top left is his normal form with four tails(he only has three at the start of the series, but since I was thinking of coloring these I went ahead and drew the four tail version to simplify the project later).
The top right image is his demon form as it appears the very first time he transforms into it. (A traumatic, near-death incident forces his survival instincts to take over and he goes on a bloody rampage. His third tail splits into a fourth during this transformation and results in a huge boost to his power level. The fourth tail remains with him permanently after the transformation finally ends.)
The bottom image is of his final form, which appears only in the final 2-3 episodes. It is an ascended state of the demon transformation that results in an explosive increase in power and the development of a full nine tails. This is the only instance of the transformation in which Tsutsumi remains in control of his demon form.
His character was designed as a reflection of myself, so that may give you an idea of how he thinks and acts in general. Basically he's a quirky little faggot with a knack for getting himself into trouble, can find humor in anything, and generally seems to enjoy violence.
I hope to color these sometime... but since that could be forever, I decided to go ahead and post these to scraps.

Hm... I should look up the actual mythology to kitsunes sometime, because some sources I run into state that they begin losing tails after getting 9 until they have 4, some say they die upon gettting 10, others say that they will go until they have none left, and apparently there's a whole other line of fox monsters called "Senri" that are considered virtuous.
So many conflicting details to figure out...

I feel I need to look some up too... seems I might have gotten some bad info early on.
I forget when or where, but I had originally been placed under the impression from something I read that the only way to kill a kitsune was to cut off their head with a silver blade. But I've since been given reason to believe that silver has no legitimate effect on them whatsoever...
I might still use it to some extent though... silver seems to be a pretty common weakness to demonic thingies...
as for the tails, the only thing I necessarily know to attribute to them is that the more a kitsune has, the more powerful that kitsune is. So initially Tsu has 3 and his magical abilities are at first non-existant and then only mildly powerful at best as he learns how to use them. (He's a Lightning user btw) Then after the fourth tail comes in, it's like he is a natural with it. Gets better and better at a much faster pace afterwards. Then during the nine tail transformation his power spikes dramatically. Which is generally why I refer to him in this state as "Thunder God Tsutsumi"
I dunno how close I'll be sticking to normal kitsune mythology to begin with though... since that would likely suggest his powers to be nothing more than advanced versions of the stunts pulled by Shippo in Inuyasha... and I want him to be WAY different from that.
