You know, it looks to me like the background is actually a scanned image of crochet needlework.

If so, this is nothing short of pure GENIUS!! That on top on some very nice artwork superimposed into such a BG only makes a good idea an even better finished work. *Nods*

Not a crocheted BG but it does give that look. It would be completely uniform if that were the case...me living with that stuff in the house does make sense that you might think it could be though.
