10000 yen a month for two bears? One of whom is ex-sumo? Well, when I was living in Japan there was a game show where a single person tried to live on 10000 yen a month and I thought that was ludicrous and impossible... can't imagine two people trying to eke that out. That'd probably last me a little over two weeks if I were being careful.

70000 yen a month. In Kyoto (at least that's the original script). And yes, that amount is near impossible.

Yeah, but 70000 a month with 60000 for rent means only 10000 a month for two bears to eat on... Not counting any other expenses, 10000 for food for a month is pretty lean for one person, for two it's malnourishment. Either fictional prices need to be lower than real world ones, they need to find some more income, or they're going to be stealing food or slowly dying. Though I suppose that might be the point.
