My first major tool purchase, a 90 lb Fisher Norris Eagle Anvil, 1886 original American Anvil.
They were made to be quieter than most anvils, and this beautiful piece was the first tool in my starting blacksmith arsenal.

This was bought, it's actually the first tool in my collection, from what I understand building anvil's is an entirely different beast from general blacksmithing, requiring a huge forge and lots of people. I do know that this anvil is a fair bit quieter than other anvils, being made from forge-cast iron with a plate forge welded to the top of the piece for the face of the anvil, where as before this anvil's were wrought iron faced with tool steel.
I'll start using it in the very near future.

Ah I was always more of a terraria player :P
Ummmm, well to start, tools. I plan to make all my own tongs and such. I also need to build up hardy hole tools (for the square shaped peg on the anvil).
So yeah tools to start. A big reason why I am starting blacksmithing beyond the therapeutic reasons is because I am taking part in an up and coming LARP, and my character, a minotaur, will be a blacksmith. I'd like to learn the basics of making weapons eventually, but for right now tools and maybe some basic artistic work (scrolls and such) are my primary focus.
