My mate and I had to put our pup, Macaroni, down this morning. She went missing some time last night and my mate found her this morning, laying by our front door. We're not sure what happened in between, but our best guess is that she got hit by a car or attacked by one of the larger dogs in the area. Her spine was broken and she had no feeling in her back legs or tail.
We took her up to the vet and they did what they could, but there really wasn't much to do. She was put to sleep at about 10 this morning. She is no longer in pain and can rest easy.
I want to give the biggest thank yous to our friends who helped us cover the bill so that our little noodle would be safe and out of pain. Our little girl is running weenie dog races on the other side of the rainbow bridge now.

I'm sorry to hear about that. It is always sad to lose an animal companion - they just happen to become so dear to you that it physically hurts to let go of them. But in the end it all has to come down to preventing her from suffering further. I remember well how devastated I have been when my dear cat had to be put down a few years ago because she was suffering from FIV and her condition was deteriorating rapidly.
as such I can say that I am very much feeling with you there.
*gives you a big hug*
