Unless the person you say it to takes it as an admission that you were entirely to blame,
and proceeds to emotionally blackmail and abuse you about it,
never letting you forget that you admitted it was your fault.
In that case, it's probably better to do nothing.
It's the right thing to do, but for no reason at all.
That's where either punching in the face or drinking comes in handy. And I use handy in the loosest sense of the term feasibly possible.
I'm just not in the class of people that can rightly leave a problem be, hoping it'll fix itself. Besides, why would one put up with something that they know is emotional blackmail / abuse, assuming they can identify it as such? It's like continuing to stand next to someone that kicks you in the shin every 12 seconds like clockwork, assuming they're going to stop any second now.
I'm just not in the class of people that can rightly leave a problem be, hoping it'll fix itself. Besides, why would one put up with something that they know is emotional blackmail / abuse, assuming they can identify it as such?
