It's not a revolver, it's a 9mm, which I'm sure isn't the gun he uses in the game, buuuut... I had to improvise.
It has a silencer because... he needs to shoot em dead quietly. I've not played the game so I don't really know how it's supposed to work. Just trying to figure it out logically o.O;;;

The weapon thing is totally understandable if you've never played the game. The early promotional art got released while the game was still being worked on, so the early "official" art is different from the game. Like the Red Team group shot.

As you can see, the soldier is out of uniform, the scout is holding the sniper's sub-machine gun, the demoman has dynamite, and the spy has a silenced automatic.
So, techically, you were going off of official Valve promotional materials.
