So I watched Zootopia the other day and I thought it was good and yeah, Judy and Nick inspired me to draw my hare and fox chars. Masque is the hare and Hatter is the fox. Why did I name my chars these? Well, Hatter really loved Alice in Wonderland and opened a tea cafe called Beyond Wonderland and went as far as to call himself Mad Hatter or Hatter for short and Masque is his March Hare. As for Masque, he's a former assassin from a guild called The Order of the Masks. He was sold to the guild by his poor parents when he was young and was raised as an assassin.
He ended up lacking emotions and became a mute, he started gaining emotions when he met Hatter. Masque eventually could no longer take to killing innocent people and failed his assignment which for the guild means death for the assassin. Luckily Hatter was able to save Masque before he had his throat slit- which is why he has the scar on his neck. Masque is still a mute and Hatter asked a friend to help out by creating a telepathic link between them, Masque just has to direct his thoughts to Hatter to communicate with him. And as for Masque's name, the guild members never addressed him by his name and he was young enough to forgot what his name is so Hatter decided to call him Masque since the point of the assassin guild is for the assassins to wear masks to hide their identities. For the most part, Masque sticks with that expression and only really show emotions around Hatter, mostly embarrassment and anger which usually results in him hitting the fox, especially if Hatter hugs him in public, but lucky for Masque that Hatter is a masochist and actually enjoys getting beaten by the hare. And as for Hatter's background... that's a secret.
I really love how Masque came out... I need to practice drawing Hatter = =; I'm not good at drawing muzzles. If it were up to me, I would've made his nose a bit for humanish.
