I've taken this very same shot before though in the last shot it was deep in the middle of summer and there was alot more green than in this shot...

My Kodak mini digicam has this neat internal panorama function, I just take three shots in series and it merges them all together into one seamless shot.

I would highly suggest using a tripod for any pano shots. Tripods are wonderful for doing the math with stability and horizon lines and such. Takes any good pano program and makes it shine!
