1) Dragons do get big around those areas when they start to become adults I believe. So he's not really "fat", just big. ^U^

He had infant fat in ANB and TEN (also Cynder in TEN). But DOTD infantile fat was replaced by teenager muscle. I think for a creature that has the ability to fly and do acrobatics in the air, the ideal size is to be lean and muscular and bulging chest as if there were pockets of air they allow them to fly a little better or directed. And both are quite as muscled in DOTD lastly only Spyro and the other dragons that have feline anatomy and correct proportions. Cynder for its proportions, its anatomy and morphology are very unlikely and unrealistic.
