The glowing green stuff is a superheated and corrosive ferrofluid that's stored under pressure in a small tank and launched through a electromagnetic coil: creating a fast-flying arrow of armor-and-flesh-eating solution. I just call it "chemplas" for short.
It's a little ridiculous, of course, but it's cool to me :P
