For my final project in Characters & Environments class, we had to create a mock story pitch for our own story. The idea would be that this pitch would be used to launch an animated cartoon, game, comic, or book.
I chose to do SEADOG, a story I am working on with my friend

SYNOPSIS:
Manuia (Marina) and Iwalani (Lapis) were born and raised on the largest island in the Lutralani Isles. Marina is an only-child from a poor family, but Lapis is kind of a princess, as her parents are very important in their society and a lot of responsibility is placed on her because of this.
The two are inseparable and complement each other well; Marina being impulsive and reckless, Lapis being more mature, rational, and cautious. In her late childhood, Marina tends to avoid her responsibilities and chores to sneak off to be with Lapis instead. This upsets her father and is seen as very disrespectful and offensive to her other relatives, leading to conflict.
Marina asks Lapis to run away with her on her boat where they can be free of their family's obligations- but she declines and they fight.
Frequent pirate raids are a regular part of their childhood, and shortly after their fight the isles are subject to a particularly harsh and long string of attacks by a group of sea lion pirates. Both Marina and Lapis are traded away in secret by a
relative in exchange for being left alone. Marina is only 14 years old; Iwalani 16.
They are taken away on a slave trading ship, known as the Blood Diamond. Captain Butcher is particularly cruel towards both his cargo and crew, many of which were originally slaves under his command.
The two otters meet Pax, a female ermine in disguise as a male, and with the help of her, other captured slaves, and mutinous crew members, Marina seizes control of the ship- but loses track of Lapis in the process. The captain escapes on another ship in the fleet, using Lapis as a shield to prevent being attacked. Marina chooses to hold fire and lets him escape with her instead of risking her life.
The next few months are spent returning captured slaves- now temporary crew members, to their homes and tracking the rest of the fleet where other slaves are still held to find Lapis.
Marina takes well to pirate life, quickly learning how to navigate, fight and steer the ship. She decides, along with a few others, to remain on board as a pirate and continue the search for Lapis, and eventually makes her way up to being captain.
Marina is now 17 years old; Lapis is 19 and has meanwhile been traded off to the mainland. No matter how many trading ships Marina will intercept and overthrow, she gets no closer to finding her.
