The current multi-role star fighter used by the Earth Alliance, as well as the Vega Protectorate, while highly maneuverable, the Outrigger star fighter's unique shape allows it to jettison it's FTL system should anything go wrong. Also of note is it's weapon systems, which rather than using more conventional laser-based weaponry, uses a new "Thunderhead" gun. the thunderhead is a type of Rail-gun which fires a special round comprised of an explosive charge within an armature, while the explosive itself is unlikely to cause any substantial damage, the resulting explosion also releases an EMP which can fry electronics within the target ship. This allows the Outrigger to not have to try and outright destroy it's target but instead damage it's electronic systems thereby crippling the target until it's no longer operable.
