Where are you getting beets from?
Night howlers are flowers.
If you're talking about the 'onions' that Judy initially noticed in the movie, those were the flower 'seeds' (better known as bulbs or corms) from which the flowers grow from, like Crocuses (of which the night howlers were designed after).
Beet seeds look nothing like those.
