My small but proud vinyl collection
Just a photo off all my vinyls and 7 inch singles. Everything from Bob Dylan, Gorillaz, Black Sabbath to Fucked up, Rolo Tomassi and Sunn O)))
A lot off money in this. The most expensive I have here I think is my Paraniod single by Black sabbath in first pressing from virgin record, bought it for around 200 pound^^

I'm sure they are, they actually kind of remind me of Deafheaven when I saw them in January. A lot of people actually said that they and their set were boring, but I loved them. I loved when they would go into the clean sections and the lighting and whole atmosphere changed. It was the first band of that style that I'd seen.
I haven't gotten it yet. I want to but every time I'm out and can, I tell myself not right now I'll get it some other time. XD I think I've heard of Wolves in the Throne Room before, but I don't think I've ever listened to them. I'm not too big into Black Metal, it's hard for me to get into it since not much of it appeals to me or gets my attention, but there are a couple bands that are alright. Although, Blackened Death Metal is usually more to my taste.
Yeah I totally agree with you. Old school black metal is very very hard for me to like, mayhem, dark funeral and Marduk. But the new way of progressive black metal that been growing around in the world is much more my taste. Both Agalloch and WITTR are in that genre. I love when you take an genre and make something new and exciting about. Progressive music^^
Exactly, although another reason I probably can't get into it is the sound quality of it, I can be a little picky when it comes to that. XD Subgenres do seem to be the best, combining elements from others instead of staying strictly to what a single genre is about. Black Fast is a pretty good one, I believe they're classified as Progressive Blackened Thrash or something strange like that. :P
Yeah the point with black metal from the start was that is was the ultimate form of rebellion and anarchy. Shit production, bad instrument, worthless mics add church burning and criminals how play this you got the original Norwegian trve black.
I want my music to be as high quality as it's possible and decent musicians.
Black fast? Never heard^^ a bit allergic to trash metal. Too close too punk.

Oh I didn't know that, I thought Black Metal was just always meant to be Satanic. For me, the quality doesn't ALWAYS have to be perfect. As long as everything is discernable and still sounds good, I don't mind it. I can understand that, that's why I'm not a huge Anthrax fan. They're alright but they just stick to the Punk element too much.
Yeah the quality is not always the biggest think. But after been listen too some off the "classic" black metal stuff, dark throne, mayhem and stuff. I like the philosophy of the punk moment and the image. I don't like the drunks and the quality off the sound recordings.
I can understand it not being the best quality back then since Metal was just getting popular and Black Metal wasn't shined upon too well, so they may not have recorded in the higher end studios. Whereas today, that's a whole different story. I never really got into Punk, so I really couldn't say. Although, Havok (modern Thrash band) has some pretty good lyrical themes when it comes to philosophy, especially their lead singer. He could easily be the leader of a rebellion. People may give Metal a lot of shit, but they would be AMAZED by how many good spirited Metalheads there are out there, especially the band members themselves.
I love how this conversation has evolved^^
Yeah your right, back in the early nineties metal was just starting to grow big, Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeath are just starting to hit and now one was interested in some random criminals in kiss make up from Norway.
I hade my punk years, I loved the philosophy, but the fights, alcohol and ignorance really turned me away. And it's not a very progressive genre. I want spiritual and philosophical lyrics to something unique and new. Like Gojira or Wolves in the throne room. Lyrics than means something and an artistic and own way off playing there music.
And yes people would be surprised how deep and smart some metalheads is.

Same here. XP
Haha, that's one way to put it, and not only that but you also have bands like Cannibal Corpse, Obituary, and others emerging that are causing even MORE concerns with non-Metal fans. But hey, Metal isn't Pop or Rap, what bands write about don't always reflect on who/the way they are, just their interests.
It's pretty sad that that's what all Metalheads are depicted as: rude, ignorant, alcoholics/drug addicts.......but decades of being called that hasn't broken us yet, just made us stronger! That's a problem with genres that stick to a specific style/theme, you really can't change anything without completely changing what genre it is. But if you keep everything the same, then it just gets kind of boring. To me, bands like Slayer, DragonForce, and Children of Bodom. Don't get me wrong, they're still good bands, but they just don't change much. That's what I love about Insomnium, they put a lot into their music and style, nothing really sounds the same. The way they write stuff, you don't just hear it, but you really feel it as well. Their lyrics can go pretty deep and almost reach out to you, they're pretty uplifting.

Our answers get longer and longer for every time we answer^^
Yeah cannibal corpse is a interesting band, chainsaw gut fuck. If I was a parent how hade little or non experience in metal and heard my kid was listening to that I would be concerned. It's there way to express thoughts and feelings and you don't see that when they not playing music they could sit in there front porch drinking ice tea and voting for trump. Never judge anyone until you actually know that person.
Slayer, ohhh Slayer, it's a fantastic band and when you hear a slayer song you know it, it goes through your body like a wildfire. But exactly as you say they have hade the same kind of sound from there debut album until there latest record. It doesn't change the genre or try to do something new with it. Slayer is still one off my favorite bands, but I want something more progressive. Music must change, humanity and the world around us are always in motion and music should represent that. Insomnium, actually never heard about, so much music you miss or haven't heard yet. I am for the moment listen to a lot off new bands, Horse Lattitude, Tombstoned, Saturnaila Temple, high priest of Saturn and a forest off stars. Some very interesting sruff.

I JUST thought that and was going to say it until I started reading your reply! XD
I'd be pretty concerned too, but nowadays it's a lot more common and not as frightening, people just can't stand hearing it. That's what music is for some people, not everyone can express themselves the same as everyone else. Some do it however they can, whether it's by music, art, writing, etc. But the guys in Cannibal Corpse are actually really nice, I've seen them twice and met them both times. This last time, Corpsegrinder was kind of scaring me, my friend had told him that he was the one who had bought the little bag of his hair at Mayhem Fest the previous year, and OH MY GOD he got all excited and started running around like a little kid who had just gotten candy! XD Slayer definitely has one of those overall sounds that you instantly recognize, whether it's the guitar tone or Tom's voice. Although, I'd say that Tom's voice is the one thing about Slayer that has changed the most, but that's an understandable change. Insomnium is a band that I definitely recommend, they're my favorite. But yeah, there are so many bands already out there and some trying to get known that it's impossible to keep up with it all or know them all. I may check some of them out when I get a chance.

It seems that I for some reason deleted the notification that you wrote. So sorry.
I like the the way this is progressing, I don't have people around that is interested in discussing music and the impact it has on life in general. Music is and has always been an way for humans to express there feelings and thoughts, and the way some people do that frightens people. I have been to so many concerts and meet some of the most extreme bands, and I have never felt threatened or scared. But if I go out on a Friday night in town I am surly going to get bottled or at least verbally mocked. It's strange how insecurity and fear can drive people to act as asshats.
Haha cannibal corpse doesn't seem like the most serious of bans, have never actually seen them live, seen napalm death live several times and slayer.
I did see that one off my absolute favorite black metal band Agalloch is breaking up, that made me sad. But they have released 8 albums and been a band for 20 years so.
Any new music your been listening to?
Cheers

Hey it's no problem, just figured you might have been busy or something. :P That kind of sucks, I have a few but based on our preferences, likes, and dislikes, we really don't discuss music too much. It's pretty bad that my one friend (whom I still haven't even known for a year yet) was looking through some CDs I'd gotten recently and just bursts out saying "eww, you listen to them??" He's one of those people that doesn't like Metalcore/Deathcore, so.....yeah. But some people just rend to take Metal too seriously, hence why it makes people nervous/scared. They just need to cut it some slack. Generally, when I go to a show I'm not worried or anything, but when I get to meet a band, then I get a little nervous because I'm getting to meet the actual people that are behind the music that I like. Although, I can be a little uncomfortable because I don't like being in large crowds. It's a shame when a band breaks up, whether it's their decision or they don't have a choice.
I actually got Deafheaven's New Bermuda album the other day, and I love it! I really have to get the rest of their stuff. Aside from that, nothing really. How about you?
