I am thinking of a new idea to try on my next suit head. The no-fur Wolfbird head I made last turned out OK (although not as well as I'd hoped, I still like it enough not to never wear it again), and in the theme of "I'm too cheap to buy fur" I'm going to muck about with some low-cost materials. In this case, a balaclava base and foam with felt* cut out in shaggy-edged patterns. It may turn out very cute and original, it may turn out very fail. I guess we'll find out.
Pros:
-dirt cheap because there's no fur
-will probably take a few hours to throw together
-possibility of it being converted to a print-out pattern and the simplicity means just about anyone can do it
-looks good on paper
Cons:
-See above
Anyway, the Andy Warhol thing is because I can't decide on a particular color. A local store where I buy most of my sewing supplies has about a million shades of felt.
